Albany International Airport’s Fixed Base
Operator Earns National & Global Recognition
Following Historic Investments, Million Air’s Albany Operation Rated Among Top U.S. FBOs and Most Improved Worldwide
ALBANY, NY (April 10, 2024) – Albany International Airport (ALB) today announced that Million Air, the airport’s fixed base operator (FBO), has been recognized by Aviation International News (AIN).
Following a 2024 multi-point survey, Million Air at ALB was identified as among the top performing FBOs of 4,000 across the United States and one of the most improved worldwide. Million Air in Albany was ranked the top FBO in the Northeast Region, ahead of facilities at larger airports in Baltimore, Long Island, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
These distinctions follow record investments in both Million Air’s facility and its dedicated personnel over the last four years.
“The FBO supports a wide array of aviation activities at ALB and this well-earned recognition underscores our commitment to providing top quality service though implementation of industry best practices,” said Phil Calderone, CEO at Albany International Airport. “We have improved and modernized the Million Air facility, added new pilot and customer amenities, and ensured a professional, world-class operation. I thank everyone who played a role in this achievement.”
Million Air serves as a critical gateway to the Capital Regin and the experience it provides makes an important impression on visitors and residents alike.
Recently, dozens of athletes, coaches, staff, and sports enthusiasts traveled through ALB’s FBO on private and chartered flights to attend or compete in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The Million Air team ensured everything went flawlessly for arriving and departing flights, earning widespread praise for their professionalism and competence.
In just a few weeks, Million Air will also welcome attendees and participants in the Belmont Stakes taking place in Saratoga Springs.
Million Air also supplies all general aviation and commercial aircraft with either Jet-A Fuel or AV Gas at ALB, and its staff is responsible for deicing aircraft during winter conditions. Recognizing the important role the FBO plays in the airport’s overall operations, investments were made to upgrade ALB’s state-of-the-art fuel farm and purchase new fuel and deicing vehicles. The Airport also switched to a provider that supplies sustainable aviation fuel - one of the first airports in the northeast to do so.
AIN surveys are based on feedback from customers and pilots on passenger and pilot amenities, line service, overall facilities experience and importantly, an FBO's commitment to sustainability. More on AIN and details from the survey can be found here.
