Tips For

Currency Exchange

The Albany International Airport Foreign Currency exchange is located in the Airport Business Center on Concourse-C.

Individuals can immediately exchange U.S. dollars for British Pounds, Euros, Pesos, Yen and Canadian currency. The Foreign Currency Exchange also enables individuals to exchange the same foreign currencies for U.S. dollars.

Other currencies can be ordered by contacting the Business Center two to three days before the currency is needed. We are not able to accept coins for exchange at the Foreign Currency Exchange.

Appointments for the Foreign Currency Exchange must be scheduled between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. To insure that sufficient currency is on hand for exchanges, both ticketed and non-ticketed individuals must call for an appointment. Due to Security Regulations, please no walk-ins.

Non-ticketed individuals will be given instructions on how to reach the Business Center. Ticketed individuals may go to the Business Center on the day of their flight with their Boarding Pass.

*** Please be aware you must go through the TSA security checkpoint and must follow all rules regarding what can be brought through the checkpoint.  ***

A modest service fee totaling 1% of the transaction will be charged. There will be a minimum service fee of $5.00.

The daily exchange rates will be available in the Business Center.  Since exchange rates can change throughout the day, and if you would like to know what rate is being used for your transaction, please ask the associate for the exchange rate before your transaction is completed.  The Authority sets our exchange rates for foreign currency based on fluctuating market conditions. Exchange rates shown in the newspaper and on some currency conversion sites are generally wholesale rates available only to banks for transactions of $1 million U.S. dollars or more. These rates are generally not available to retail customers who are obtaining foreign currency for international travel. In addition, exchange rates offered by other dealers, or shown at other sources (including online sources) may be different from the rate offered at the business center.

Please note that cash is preferred for transactions — no personal checks or travelers checks are accepted. Credit and debit cards can be used but an additional fee of 3% will be charged.

The Foreign Currency Exchange can be reached at 518 242-4488 or at businesscenter@albanyairport.com

The Authority does not accept any liability if our rates are different from rates offered or reported by third parties, or offered by us at a different time, at a different location, for a different transaction amount, or involving a different payment media (bank notes, check, wire transfer, etc.).
