AIRPORT FIREFIGHTER – FULL TIME

A vacancy currently exists for the position of Airport Firefighter.

Summary:  Responds to actual or potential aircraft and/or other Airport emergencies to prevent or extinguish fires and rescue plane crew and passengers, performs emergency medical services (EMS); ensures Airport compliance with FAR Parts 139 and CSR Part 1542, provides assistance to other operational departments and perform safety inspections and other associated safety efforts.

Duties: Duties include: Performs firefighting, rescue, HAZMAT response and EMS related to Airport and/or aircraft emergencies and emergency alerts.  Assists in aircraft salvage operations.  Tests, maintains and operates fire facilities and equipment in the course of normal and emergency airport operations, including the maintenance of fire extinguishers and hydrants.  Assures hydrant accessibility.  Enforces security and makes ground and facility inspections in compliance with FAR Part 139 and CSR Part 1542.  Escorts aircraft and other vehicular traffic on the Airfield Operating Area (AOA).  Provides secure escorts to airport personnel, contractors and other airport visitors as needed. Enforces Airport Rules and Regulations.  Performs safety efforts including inspection, compliance monitoring and training.  Work week consists of two 24 hour shifts (for a total of 48 hours per week).

Skills required:  Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED; five years firefighting experience with ARFF experienced preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License; current Emergency Medical Technician certificate. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check and must meet and maintain Federal security requirements for access into operations areas.

Wage rate:      $16.08/hr

CUSTODIAL WORKER – FULL TIME  

A vacancy currently exists in the Custodial Department for the entry level position of custodial worker.

Summary:  Keeps designated facilities in clean and orderly condition.

Duties:  Basic cleaning duties including, but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping surfaces found in offices, breakrooms, hallways, bathrooms and public areas; operate floor cleaners, vacuums and other cleaning machines; empty trash.

AIRPORT OPERATIONS OFFICERFull Time 

Vacancies currently exist in the Airport Operations/Security Department for the entry level position of Airport Operations Officer.

Summary: Under the supervision and direction of the airport operations supervisor(s) the airport operations officer will ensure airport compliance with FAR Part 139, CFR 1542, as well as other state and local regulations. The Operations Officers primary duty is to ensure operational safety and security of the facility.

Duties and skills required include:  The position requires coordinating the inspection and maintenance in the air operations area (AOA) and terminal complex while ensuring compliance with FAA and TSA Regulations.  Researching, preparing, and presenting oral and written reports for official investigations.  Responds to damage, injury, and other miscellaneous incidents and occurrences, collects information needed to prepare reports for use by management staff.  Assists with enforcing noise abatement programs including: receiving, managing, and documenting noise complaints.  Performs other operations related duties and handles special project assignments.  The applicant must be comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment requiring multi-tasking skills.  Must be computer savvy, including working with PC’s in the windows environment and be able to type at least 20 WPM. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check and must be able to meet and maintain Federal security requirements for unescorted access into all operations areas.  A valid state driver’s license is required as a condition of employment. The position requires shift work and union membership is required.

Preferred qualifications:  Associates or Bachelors Degree in airport management/aviation preferred.  A private pilot’s license/or prior work experience in the field of aviation is a plus.

AIRPORT PARKING SUPERVISOR – FULL TIME, SALARY EXEMPT

Vacancies currently exists in the Commercial Services Department for Parking Supervisor.

Summary:  Manages and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Airport’s parking operations.  Directs the activities associated with collecting parking fees and maintaining an orderly transaction flow in the ground transportation system, including the public and employee parking lots and the commercial vehicle access zones by performing the following duties.

Duties:  Duties include:  Analyzes capacity of lots, rate of turnover and lot layout to secure maximum sale, control and collection of revenue due.  Administers the parking access and revenue control system.  Assists in the coordination of parking lot repairs and other construction activities in order to mitigate the impact on parking activities and to ensure the orderly flow of traffic. Determines staffing requirements; prepares and approves work schedules and monitors staff performance.  Manages equipment inventory, maintenance and repair.  Assists in the development of the Ground Transportation Business Plan.  Participates in the formulations of marketing, promotional and pricing policies.

Skills required:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university with a degree in Business Administration preferred, with a minimum of three years supervisory experience; or ten years retail or parking lot related experience with five years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License. AIRPORT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Vacancies currently exist in the Airfield Maintenance Department for the position of Airport Maintenance Technician – Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic.

Summary:  Performs a wide variety of tasks involved in repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline powered vehicle and equipment by performing the following duties.

Duties:  Duties include:  Notifies and coordinates routine and non-routine repairs and maintenance with the Lead Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic. Read job and/or preventive maintenance orders and observes and listens to vehicles/equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.  Performs routine and non-routine inspection and maintenance on Airport vehicles and equipment.  Disassembles units such as engines, transmissions, or differentials and inspects parts for wear; overhauls and /or replaces engines and transmissions; repairs/recharges or replaces parts such as batteries pistons, rods, gears, valves and bearings; overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps; rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks; rewires or installs new ignition systems, lights, and instrument panes; relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front ends, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiators; mends damaged body and fender parts; replaces and adjusts headlights and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers; examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on vehicles, and makes adjustments; lubricates moving parts and drives repaired vehicles to verify conformance to specifications. Inspects tools and equipment on a regular basis to ensure operational safety; attends various training session; performs routine shop keeping duties in order to ensure a safe hazard free work environment.

Skills required:  Applicant must possess a High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of three years experience in the repair and maintenance of light trucks and diesel equipment.  Must be qualified on stick and mig welding; have computer tune up experience and knowledge of fuel injector and hydraulic systems.  Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s C.D.L., Class B, License. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check and must meet and maintain Federal security requirements for unescorted access into all operations areas.

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – HVAC

A vacancy currently exists in the Facilities Maintenance Department for the entry level position of facility maintenance HVAC technician.

Duties include:   Performs daily operational checks of HVAC systems and BAS controls and reports deficiencies.  Maintains, performs and assists in routine maintenance and repairs.  Documents repairs and preventive maintenance work.  Troubleshoots problems  and makes adjustments using both main computer terminal, laptop, and PDA.  Supplies lists of parts and supplies for order.  Responds to emergency breakdowns and callbacks to assist.  Performs tasks of facilities maintenance technician.  Other duties may be assigned.

Skills required:  High school diploma or GED.  Minimum of three years experience in  maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, with a good working knowledge of hot water and low pressure steam boilers and chilled water conditioning equipment.  Must be proficient in a Windows computer environment.  Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and meet and maintain Federal security requirements for access into all operations areas.

Summary:  Performs a wide variety of tasks involved in airfield and grounds maintenance.

Duties include: performs routine & non routine inspection and maintenance of airfield and airport grounds; operates heavy equipment including dump trucks, snow plows, blowers, brooms, loaders, graders, mowers, crack sealers, paint stripers, jack hammers, compressors, forklifts and pavement cutters; maintains airport grounds, runways, taxiways, and ramps; attends necessary training to operate equipment, snow removal, emergency operations and safety procedures.

Skills required:  Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED and ground maintenance work or related experience; must have prior experience in the use of hand & power tools and demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of heavy equipment.  Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and must be able to obtain a CDL, Class B license within ninety days of employment. AIRPORT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN – ELECTRICAL / COMMUNICATIONS

A vacancy currently exists in the Airfield Maintenance Department for the position of Airport Maintenance Technician – Electrical / Communications.

Summary:  Installs, repairs and maintains communication, computer, camera and security access wiring and related equipment.  Assist Airport Maintenance Manager with other duties as assigned.

Duties:  Duties include:  Responds to work orders and emergency requests to move, change, install, repair, remove or terminate data and communication lines and equipment such as computers, networks, cameras, access pads, and telephones. Plans layouts and installation of data and communication lines and equipment. Reads technical manuals to learn correct settings for equipment. Modifies equipment in accordance with user requests and factory directives. Connects microcomputers or terminals to data communication lines.  Troubleshoots, tests and maintains various systems to ensure proper operation.  Enters commands into computer to test equipment and/or program services.  Assists in the preparation and review of floor plans, blue prints and schematics.  Advises Airport Maintenance Manager of needed equipment and supplies.  Operates lifts and a wide variety of hand tools.  Assists Airport Maintenance Manager in other duties as assigned.  Participates in training as required.  Participates in Total Quality Management Programs.

Skills required:  Applicant must possess an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years experience in the telecommunication field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license.
